Tom Wrigglesworth - stand-up comedian, storyteller and Radio 4 favourite

Tom Wrigglesworth is a Sheffield stand-up comedian known for warm, disarming storytelling built from real life, sharp observation and a distinctive turn of phrase. He trained as an engineer before turning to comedy full-time, winning the Channel 4 new comedian award So You Think You're Funny? in 2003 and building a reputation on the circuit for material that turns everyday frustrations, from corporate small print to public transport, into properly crafted comic stories. His Yorkshire delivery and unmistakable appearance make him instantly likeable from the moment he steps on stage.

Tom's tale of rescuing a fellow passenger from an overzealous ticket inspector, and being arrested for it, became the basis of an award-winning Edinburgh show that earned him a nomination for the main Edinburgh Comedy Award, the Chortle Best Show award and a Sony Radio Award. He is a familiar voice on BBC Radio 4, hosting Radio 4's Comedy Club and creating his own series Tom Wrigglesworth's Open Letters and Tom Wrigglesworth's Hang Ups, and has guested widely on the network including The Unbelievable Truth, The Now Show and Loose Ends.

Tom's storytelling style and clean, character-driven material travel well across corporate dinners, theatre nights and club shows alike, holding a room's attention through genuinely well-built stories rather than easy shock value. He is quick-witted enough to handle a crowd off the cuff but rarely strays from material that plays comfortably to a mixed audience. Booking Tom means a set that is properly funny and properly crafted, start to finish.
