Surreal Welsh stand-up comedian and Britain's Got Talent semi-finalist

Noel James - surreal Welsh stand-up comedian

Noel James is a Swansea-born stand-up comedian who has been working the UK circuit for around 25 years, building a reputation as one of its more distinctive voices. Before comedy he taught English as a foreign language, and that word-loving streak carries straight through into his act, which mixes surreal flights of fantasy, sharp wordplay and prop and guitar based gags delivered in an unmistakable Welsh lilt. Audiences know him for a style that jumps from pun to pun and idea to idea, always landing with careful, well drilled timing.

His television work includes Packing Them In for Channel 4 and The Stand-Up Show for the BBC, and he co-wrote and starred in the S4C Welsh language comedy Giamocs, which picked up a nomination for the Rose d'Or. He reached the semi-finals of Britain's Got Talent in 2018 with a memorably clever guitar routine, introducing his instrument only to reveal that the tune he was about to play was, in fact, a cover, before launching into Baa Baa Black Sheep, a performance that introduced his surreal style to a national primetime audience.

That combination of clean, clever wordplay and genuinely original prop comedy makes Noel a safe and versatile choice for corporate functions, comedy clubs and family shows alike. He can perform in Welsh as well as English, adding a nice extra option for events in Wales, and decades of circuit experience mean he reads a room quickly and rarely puts a foot wrong. A dependable, good natured booking that appeals to all kinds of audiences.
