Mike Wilkinson - stand-up comedian and compere

Mike Wilkinson is a Lakes-based stand-up comedian known across the circuit for his laid-back Northern charm and dry, razor sharp wit, a combination that puts audiences at ease before he starts picking the room apart. He made his name early, reaching the final of the So You Think You're Funny new act competition and the City Life Comedian of the Year final for North West acts, both strong early signals of the talent that would define his career. He has spent the years since establishing himself as one of the region's most dependable and consistently booked club performers.

He has supported some of the biggest names in British comedy on tour, including Peter Kay, Johnny Vegas, Ross Noble, Dave Spikey and Jason Manford, sharing stages that few circuit acts get close to. He was also a member of the Comedy Store Manchester's topical improvisation troupe Men at Work, sharpening the quick-thinking instincts that still shape his live sets, and he is an accomplished pianist and guitarist besides. He comperes regularly at the Frog and Bucket and Jongleurs, and his television and radio credits include Gagging For It on Granada, Live From the Albert Dock and BBC's Running Late.

Mike's easy, unhurried style and sharp improvisational instincts make him a strong booking for clubs, corporate events and any room where a comedian needs to think on their feet. He is a natural compere as well as a headline act, and handles both with the same relaxed confidence that has kept him in demand for years. That versatility, backed by real touring pedigree, makes him a safe and entertaining choice for almost any live audience.
