Mike Milligan is a 30-year veteran of the UK comedy circuit, built on quick thinking, sharp local material and an easy command of a room. A former teacher, he learned how to hold an unruly crowd's attention long before he ever picked up a microphone, and that classroom instinct still shows in how comfortably he handles hecklers and warms up a nervous audience. Three decades on stage have given him an instinct for a room that only comes with genuine, sustained experience gig after gig.
He is the resident compere at Newcastle's Hyena Comedy Cafe, named one of the top ten comedy clubs in the country by the Daily Telegraph, and has headlined clubs including the Comedy Store, Jongleurs, The Stand and the Glee Club. His writing and performing credits take in Spender, Byker Grove and several Catherine Cookson dramas, along with Granada's Justice for Gemma, Channel 4's Danni's Dares and Yorkshire Television's Running Jokes, plus radio work for BBC's Ross King Show, Radio 4's Afternoon Shift and Weekending, and The Patrick Kielty Show. He also provided the voice of Sid the Sexist for Viz comic's animated video.
Mike's experience across theatres, clubs and forces entertainment abroad makes him a dependable choice for corporate functions, after-dinner slots and club nights alike. He arrives ready to read the room and adapt, and leaves audiences and organisers happy in equal measure, drawing on three decades of stagecraft, a resident compere role and broadcast credits that few working comedians on the circuit today can genuinely match.
