Marcus Brigstocke is a London-based stand-up comedian and broadcaster known for sharp, topical material delivered with the polish of someone who has spent two decades at the top of British comedy. He started performing stand-up and character shows while at Bristol University, and quickly established a reputation for smart, satirical wit that skewers current affairs and everyday absurdities in equal measure. That combination of intelligence and warmth has made him a familiar, trusted voice across British radio, television and live comedy for over twenty five years.
Marcus won BBC New Comedian of the Year in 1996 and has gone on to become a fixture of Radio 4, with regular slots on The Now Show and Just A Minute alongside his own series Giles Wemmbley-Hogg Goes Off. On television he has been a team captain on Argumental, hosted The Late Edition and I've Never Seen Star Wars on BBC Four, and appeared on Have I Got News For You, QI and Live at the Apollo. He also played King Arthur in the UK tour of Spamalot, and his Radio 4 drama The Red won Best Single Drama at the 2018 BBC Audio Drama Awards.
Marcus is a natural fit for awards ceremonies, conferences and after-dinner slots, where his broadcast experience and quick wit let him read a room and adapt material with real precision. He is equally comfortable hosting a formal evening or headlining a comedy club, bringing a polished, dependable presence that corporate clients and comedy audiences both respond to. Booking Marcus means a safe pair of hands with a genuinely sharp comic mind behind it.
