Dave Chawner - award-winning stand-up comedian, TV presenter and best-selling author

Dave Chawner is a stand-up comedian who has been working the UK circuit since the early 2010s, building a reputation for tackling tricky, personal subjects, from mental health to eating disorders, veganism and philosophy, with a warm, sensitive and genuinely funny touch. He has taken seven solo shows to the Edinburgh Fringe, using stand-up to talk honestly about issues that are rarely discussed on a comedy stage, and doing so in a way that consistently gets described as moving as well as hilarious.

His debut Fringe show, Normally Abnormal, drew on his own experience of anorexia and was recognised at the Houses of Parliament in 2014, going on to sell out and tour the UK. That success led to a TEDx talk on eating disorders and a deal to write Weight Expectations, a number one best-selling book combining memoir and self-help. On screen, Dave has presented for BBC's Tomorrow's World and appeared as a guest across BBC Breakfast, Lorraine, Loose Women, The Jeremy Vine Show, Morning Live and Good Morning Britain, alongside regular slots on BBC Radio 1, 2 and 4. In 2023 he won Ongoing Comedian of the Year at the Pegasus Comedy Awards during the Edinburgh Fringe.

His ability to turn genuinely difficult subject matter into warm, accessible comedy, without ever losing the laughs, makes Dave a distinctive booking for corporate events, awareness campaigns and after-dinner slots where organisers want more than a straightforward set. His broadcast experience means he is comfortable and polished in front of any camera or crowd, and his growing reputation as an author and speaker adds real credibility for clients looking to combine comedy with a meaningful message.
