Bennett Arron is a Welsh writer and comedian from Port Talbot, and one of the first major victims of identity fraud in the UK, an experience that left him and his pregnant wife penniless and homeless after someone spent over a year running up debts in his name. Rather than leave it there, he turned the experience into a genuinely unique act, becoming, by his own account, the world's only identity theft comedian.
He wrote, directed and presented the Channel 4 documentary How Not to Lose Your Identity, based on his own case, which included him being arrested in a dawn raid by Scotland Yard after proving how easily identity fraud could be carried out, and was shortlisted for a BAFTA for the film. He was a 1997 BBC New Comedy Award finalist alongside Peter Kay, and now speaks regularly at cybersecurity and business events including IP EXPO Europe, alongside his stand-up work.
That genuine, lived crossover between comedy and real-world fraud expertise makes Bennett Arron an unusually strong after dinner speaker for corporate and conference audiences, particularly anywhere cybersecurity, fraud or risk is on the agenda.
