Andrew O'Neill - alternative stand-up comedian, musician and author

Andrew O'Neill is a London stand-up comedian, musician and writer known for one of the most distinctive voices on the UK alternative circuit. Non-binary and open about it on stage, O'Neill, who uses they/them pronouns, blends surrealism, sharp political commentary and genuine stagecraft into a style that is difficult to categorise and impossible to forget. A self-described metalhead, occultist and history obsessive, they have spent over two decades touring clubs, theatres and festivals across the UK and beyond, building a reputation as a performer who rewards audiences willing to go somewhere a little stranger than the mainstream circuit usually allows.

O'Neill's television credits include Good Omens, Never Mind the Buzzcocks and Stewart Lee's Comedy Vehicle, alongside acting roles in Saxondale and Fags, Mags and Bags. On BBC Radio 4 they wrote and starred in the occult sitcom Damned Andrew and the award-winning stand-up show Pharmacist Baffler, and they remain a regular voice on Radio 4 Extra's science fiction programming. O'Neill has taken new material to the Edinburgh Fringe most years since 2006, with 2023's GEBURAH picking up strong reviews, and their book A History of Heavy Metal became an Amazon bestseller, translated into French, Spanish and Russian. They were nominated for Chortle's Best Breakthrough Act in 2009.

O'Neill's material is personal, political and unapologetically alternative, which makes them a better fit for late shows, comedy clubs and festival bills than strictly family friendly events. For alternative comedy nights, late corporate slots with an adult audience, or any booking looking for something sharper and more distinctive than the standard circuit set, O'Neill delivers a performance that genuinely stands apart.
